Multiple dimensions of sustainability can be evaluated using a new instrument. The Sustainability Quick Scan, jointly developed with Zero-e, has been presented in Change Magazine (in Dutch).

The introduction of a biobased economy requires a long term transition process. In December 2009, we will launch abook published by Earthscan, providing a state-of-the-art overview of biobased technologies including biofuels and biorefineries. The book describes how policy and market can promote a biobased economy that is effective, sustainable and cost efficient. It shows how biomass can significantly reduce GHG emissions and provide more income than generally is assumed. The launching session will be held during the climate summit in Copenhagen.

In order to remain up to date, I read a lot of news items on the internet. Google has a good alert action which can bring new bioenergy (or any ohter) issues on a day to day basis. An overview in Dutch is provided by http://www.overenergie.nl/nieuws.html.

Een Nederlandstalig overizicht van bioenergie is te vinden op:

A good overview of bioenergy or biofuels is very hard to get by. Many attempts have been done but these are deemed to be outdated within months or sometimes weeks. I find wikipedia on bioenergy http://www.bioenergywiki.net/index.php/What_is_bioenergy one of the best, and recommend it to especially new readers and non-specialists.
